A hieroglyph or sacred writing is a character of an ancient Egyptian writing system. Hieroglyph inscribed with hieroglyphhic symbols, which also a figure or symbol with a hidden meaning and hard to read. In Neoplatonism, especially during the Renaissance, a "hieroglyph" was an artistic representation of an esotoric idea, which Neoplatonists believed actual Egyptian hieroglyph to be. The word hieroglyphics may refer to a hieroglyphic script.
