19th Century of Neo Classicism (Artist and Art Work)
Neoclassicm (from Greek) is the name given to Western movements in the decorative and visual arts, literacture, theatre, music, and architecture that dream inspiration from the 'classical' art and culture of Ancient Greece coincided with the 18th Century Age of Enlightement, and continued into the early 19th Century. Thus, Neoclassicm is a revival of the styles and spirit of classica antiquity inspired directly from the classical period. While the movement is often described as the opposed counterpart of Romanticism, this is great over-simplification that tends not to be sustainable when specific artist or works are considered.
